What are medicolegal assessments?

Otherwise known as independent medical examinations, our medicolegal assessments provide an insurer or your legal representative with an independent opinion on how personal and professional activities have been impacted by an injury or illness that you have sustained. This is especially pertinent when findings from a professional assessment help with influencing decisions about your recovery, return to work, or entitlements to compensation.

An independent medical examiner (IME) is a specialist with qualifications relevant to your injury. At MiBody Lytics, our Occupational Therapists do not replace your nominated health professionals. They cannot treat you, or offer to treat you as a patient. Their sole purpose is to review your injury and provide independent commentary.

Utilising our clinical and medicolegal experience, a high standard of opinions are then made, based on our independent Occupational Therapy subjective and objective assessments. This is also discussed with each individual during their assessment.
